ABOUT

Nir Tsfaty is a Melbourne-based singer-songwriter, composer and 2023 APRA Screen Music Awards nominee.

Tsfaty's new release, The Sun in the Sand, follows his 2024 solo debut EP UNDER THE SUN, marking his fourth studio album. Written after completing the score for Scorpion Ascent, a short film directed by Yaniv Linton, The Sun in the Sand reflects on fleeting moments, lessons in love and pain, and the temporariness of time.

Before his solo debut, Tsfaty had previously released three studio albums with his bands Noria and Bell Always: Anthers EP, Clear Backgrounds, and Daylight Slowly Fade. Three of the singles from these albums earned the Song of the Week title on Israeli national radio 88fm.

Since moving to Melbourne in 2019, Tsfaty has collaborated with Invictus Quartet and performed a series of headline shows titled About Whales. These included sold-out debut nights at Melbourne Recital Centre in July 2021 and Wesley Anne, as well as live videos recorded at Meat Market in Melbourne.

Along with his performing career, Nir is the Music Director at Production Alley Studios and has established himself as a sought-after screen composer. He has worked on numerous award-winning projects in advertising with clients including ABC, Respect Victoria, iSelect (Bronze winner, 2022 New York Festivals Advertising Awards), Collarts and more. In 2023, Nir was nominated for Best Music for a Short Film in the 2023 APRA Screen Music Awards for his original soundtrack for Scorpion Ascent, directed by Yaniv Linton.
