Nir Tsfaty is a Melbourne-based songwriter and composer whose work blends intimate songs with string writing, atmospheric production and a recurring fascination with memory, distance, and place.

His music moves between alternative folk, chamber pop and cinematic songwriting, exploring belonging and the experience of building a life somewhere new. His forthcoming album, About Whales, is built around voice, guitar and string quartet, and grew out of a series of live performances including a sold-out debut at Melbourne Recital Centre.

Alongside his artist work, Nir composes for film and screen. His score for Scorpion Ascent was nominated for Best Music for a Short Film at the 2023 APRA Screen Music Awards. His music has been presented at Melbourne Recital Centre and NGV, and broadcast on ABC.
